Your Passport to the Future

As some of you may already know, I recently travelled to Venice to view the new 2011 collection for Sisley Cornwall.

I was invited to Castrette – an absolutely enormous factory where all the clothing for the Benetton group is born.

I was so excited as I walked into this giant warehouse, the atmosphere was electric with the anticipation of hundreds of people who had travelled from all over the world (including Luciano Benetton himself) to be at the unveiling of the new collection.

This collection is called “Passport to the Future” and the theme for the show was air travel. 

Behind the catwalk there were two large departure boards and when the show began the catwalk lit up like a runway.  Even my ticket to the event was designed like a boarding pass!  It was fantastic!

One by one the models began to parade up and down the catwalk in some stunning clothes (I just can’t wait to unveil them in the shop, you are going to love them!)  

Being a fashion show some of them were more “works of art” than clothing we would wear day to day but they received lots of cheers and applause from the audience as they were just so breathtaking!  I tried to take a few pictures which I’ve included in a video you’ll find on my Facebook page but they just don’t do them justice I’m afraid. 

After the catwalk show was over there were some speeches by some of the Designers – these were all in Italian so I really had to concentrate to understand what was going on but they were basically talking with great excitement about the future of the company and how it was so important that they continue to deliver wonderful designs at great prices.

I then got the opportunity to see the designs up close and personal.  Models stood on pedestals around the room so that you could view the way the clothing looked when worn and in front of each of them was a rail of garments that belonged to that “Story”.

This is one of my favourite parts of these shows because you get to feel the clothes and start to think about customers who they would really suit.  I had quite a few of you in mind as I walked around viewing the designs!  I took a few photographs and decided mentally which pieces I would be bringing back to Sisley Cornwall...

While I was looking at the designs we were served some incredible food... from the trays you get your food on during a flight!  They really had gone all out with the airport theme (except the food was a million miles away from the usual cuisine served on board a plane)!

I’m currently in London buying the clothes I saw at the show and I’m getting more and more excited about showing them to you!  The new collection is full of edgy, up to the minute designs that you won’t find everywhere.  I just know that you are going to feel really special wearing these clothes so I’m really excited about being able to bring them to Sisley Cornwall for you!
